Other people's snot can make me sick

So I am use to wiping my own nose with the back of my hand whenever I am sick. But it never occurred to me that if I wipe someone else's nose while they are sick and I am not then more than likely I could get sick pretty darn quick. Now I don't have the SNOT RUNNING DOWN MY CHIN kind of sick, but I feel raw and hoarse. Of course every time my daughter sneezes you need a kevlar vest to keep from being attacked by a germ goo wad. On more than one occassion recently I had to wear my slicker while placing myself in her line of fire. Now we're both eating antibiotics like candy, but of course she gets us to shove its liquidy goodness down her throat while I have to pop pills (like I need another pill!) At least I got some codeine cough syrup for a chaser. Ah, the season of sickness. Hohoho.

Missing Boy Returned to mother... Bah Humbug.

So Daniel Pearsall was found in Cancun and will be returned to his mother today or tomorrow. Damnit, and you'd think he and his father would get to spend the holidays together. Go figure.

Can You Believe I got the Best Card Ever?

So a student gave me a Christmas card today, and I have to share it verbatim. There is no other way:

"Thank you for being amazing and knowing what the f*ck is up. Thank you for helping me like a machine this semester with me grades, writing and HEART. Thank you for understanding RENT and not patronizing. thank you for getting it. you as a teacher is a breath of fresh air."

I've never received a better one.

thinking

I am thinking about making a new blog. Getting away from blogger and getting a ton more freedom through Moveable Type. With the holidays almost here, I am not even considering it until after January and our return. We have a domain that may work. We shall see. I am eager to begin such a venture with my wife. This will be fun! :) If you have an opinion of what we should call it, I am all ears.

I sure love when people do what they should do...

What do you do when everyone doesn't listen to your warnings? I went in to work this morning and I yelled at everyone about what happened. I felt horrible about what happened, but I have to remind myself that I had nothing to do with their decisions. I was just so surprised at them and at that whole situation. Of course, I just don't know, but I do know that the more I type the number my fingers get. After a nice dinner not here, we came home to the O.C. and a nice bottle of wine which I half finished as quickly as my throat would open. I was just completely and utterly done with today. "The sun will come out tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow is a day away!......"

First

This weekend my daughter was making her little teeth "mumming" noise and we were bantering in the car about various things, and all of a sudden she called out "dada!". We were floored. I have nuthin' to say. She doesn't quote know what she said, but she said it.

Today we fed her finger foods. She ate several small pieces of food and enjoyed it. And then earlier she was playing in her crib and pulled herself up to a standing position. I clapped loudly, although I know that more and more she will do things I wish would not do as much. Sitting down, not talking loudly, etc... Who knows.

All I want from Christmas is...

My two front teeth.... err.... I mean my daughter's. Today my wife rubbed her bottom gum until our daughter's first front tooth finally popped through. Yeah!

Maguire's WICKED

So I am finally finishing this book. I don't want to think I am a bandwagon jumper because I am reading Wicked and I have the Narnia books sitting here, too. I am about 40 pages into editing my own novel. It's ok so far. We will see. I am enjoying it, but I never know until other people read it. My brother-in-law says he will read it over Christmas, so we will see if he does. I am stoked. And I want my pumpkin roll!
