NHS goes Social (Media that is!)

Date November 9, 2008

There was only one session at this conference that seemed to have anything to do with technology. It was positioned as the last session after 9PM on the last evening of the conference, and I was late.

Walking in quietly, I glanced up at the presenter’s slide. She had a FaceBook page for her NHS pulled up. I immediately realized the connection between social media and our NHS chapter. I was so excited and ran to sit with my colleague. As the woman, Kadi, spoke, I had this string of epiphanies. I was so excited, I even shared some of them with the group. Could you imagine using Google forms to aggregate all of your NHS selection data? WOW! We’ve always hand typed all of this. Always. It took forever, and now don’t need to.

I shared several things with the whole room, and then later several people came up to me and I handed out business cards. I then thanked the presenter, and one of the NHS coordinators was there with her. I believe tongue-in-cheek she said “well, you should come do this presentation next year!” Looks like the presented was pregnant, and maybe she’d be too busy. I was pretty excited about that too! Could you imagine presenting at the National Honor Society national conference in Washington DC? WOW. I gotta go now and build social media sites for my NHS.
