PodCampAZ

Date November 4, 2008

Ok I gotta write this, but it’ll make me sound like a dork. I didn’t realize PodCampAZ was happening. PodCampAZ is an UnConference based completely on technology and attended by so many tech geeks just like me! Saturday evening my friends invited me to dinner at Chino Banditos, which is a mashup of Chinese & Mexican food (yes a mashup restaurant! how apropos!) I signed in with brightkite.com which will then tell me if other people check in at the same place. My phone began to beep and vibrate as tons of people walk in from the conference. I was flabbergasted, and began to meet people I only knew by their twitter names. I met Heather Herr and Brian from Colorado (sorry Brian, I forget how to spell your last name).

Biray & Coop encouraged me to show up for Day Two, and Donna’d gotten enough done for me to head over there. It was unlike any conference I’ve ever been to (hence unconference!) I registered for free and really saw how the conference is run by the members as Shelley volunteered at the registration table.

The sessions were relatively informal albeit the tech celebrities from Arizona were there. I actually didn’t know we really had these, but they there they were. I spent the day going to several sessions I’ve blogged with here, and I’ve already registered for next year to attend and present.
